Ruthenium polypyridyl peptide conjugates: membrane permeable probes for cellular imaging.
Two novel polyarginine labelled ruthenium polypyridyl dyes are reported, one conjugated to five, (Ru-Ahx-R5), and one to eight arginine residues, (Ru-Ahx-R8); both complexes exhibit long-lived, intense, and oxygen-sensitive luminescence; (Ru-R8) is passively, efficiently and very rapidly transported across the cell membrane into the cytoplasm without requirement for its permeablisation.
متن کاملRuthenium polypyridyl squalene derivative: a novel self-assembling lipophilic probe for cellular imaging.
Transition metal complexes provide a promising avenue for designing new therapeutic and diagnostic agents. In particular, ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes are useful for studying cellular uptake, due to their easy synthesis and unique photophysical properties. Dyes are frequently combined with material substrates to modulate their properties, enhance stability, reduce toxicity, and improve d...
متن کاملMechanism of cellular uptake of a ruthenium polypyridyl complex.
Transition metal complexes provide a promising avenue for the design of therapeutic and diagnostic agents, but the limited understanding of their cellular uptake is a roadblock to their effective application. Here, we examine the mechanism of cellular entry of a luminescent ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complex, Ru(DIP) 2dppz (2+) (where DIP = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline and dppz = dipyridophe...
متن کاملPeptide-based probes for cancer imaging.
Receptors for regulatory peptides are overexpressed in a variety of human cancers. They represent the molecular basis for in vivo imaging with radiolabeled peptide probes. Somatostatin-derived tracers, designed to image the sst2-overexpressing neuroendocrine tumors, have enjoyed almost 2 decades of successful development and extensive clinical applications. More recent developments include seco...
متن کاملRuthenium polypyridyl phototriggers: from beginnings to perspectives.
Octahedral Ru(II) polypyridyl complexes constitute a superb platform to devise photoactive triggers capable of delivering entire molecules in a reliable, fast, efficient and clean way. Ruthenium coordination chemistry opens the way to caging a wide range of molecules, such as amino acids, nucleotides, neurotransmitters, fluorescent probes and genetic inducers. Contrary to other phototriggers, t...
